FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State women’s track & field team opened competition at the first day of the Bison Open on Friday, with performances in the weight throw and 300m dash highlighting the day for the Bison women.
Senior Merrideth Spiers won the weight throw with the second-best mark of her career, throwing 65-06.75 (19.98m) to rank 40th in the NCAA this season.
Sophomore Reese Rogowski took first in the 300m dash with a time of 39.35, ranking fifth-fastest in NDSU history. Kaci Cooper ran 39.53 for second place, putting her at No. 7 on the NDSU all-time list.
Reagan Baesler won the 3000m in 9:45.35. Grace Link took second in 9:51.62, and Jenna DeBates placed third in 10:06.62.
NDSU freshman Riika Tirkkonen won the 200m dash with a personal-best time of 24.73.
Jacee Johannsen won the pole vault, clearing 13-01.50 (4.00m). Unattached Bison freshman Casidi Pehler vaulted 12-01.50 (3.70m) to place third.
Competition will continue Saturday at the Bison Open.
