The first month of the Vikings’ schedule would be a gauntlet. But they beat the San Fransisco 49ers, the defending NFC champions, in Week 2. The Vikings followed that up by throttling the Houston Texans 34-7. In Week 4, they jumped to a 28-0 lead against the Green Bay Packers, ultimately winning 31-29. This helped the Vikings get to a 5-0 start.
Brian Flores’ defense led the way, confusing Brock Purdy, C.J. Stroud, and Jordan Love. The offense made strides, with Aaron Jones helping the run game and Darnold playing the best football of his career.
