This week, SB Nation asked football fans to pick each week 17 game against the point spread. Arguably the biggest game of the weekend is the Green Bay Packers’ matchup with the Minnesota Vikings — one that will have a massive impact on playoff seeding in the NFC and that could help determine the NFC North division winner as well.
Given the high quality of play displayed by both teams this season, it should come as no surprise that the spread on this game is extremely close. Fanduel’s odds have the game settling with the Vikings favored by 1.5 points, as that edge is almost entirely due to home-field advantage.
That tight spread makes sense for a number of reasons, not the least of which is the result of the first meeting between these two teams back in week 4. That game saw the Packers get off to a truly abysmal start, allowing the Vikings to go up 28-0 in the first half before mounting a furious comeback. Minnesota scored just three points after halftime, but the Packers came up just short in a 31-29 loss at Lambeau Field.
With oddsmakers expecting a similarly tight game this week, NFL fans are leaning towards the home team. 64% of fans predict that the Vikings will cover, with 36 percent picking the Packers to beat the spread:
