It has been the year of Max Brosmer, in Dinkytown. When he transferred to P.J. Fleck’s program there was some local hype surrounding the kid from FCS New Hampshire, who the Minnesota Gophers snatched up around this time exactly one year ago.
Not only did he live up to that mild hype, but he is having one of the best seasons of any quarterback in University of Minnesota history. Brosmer started all 12 regular season games for the Gophers, in his lone one-and-done season.

He’s thrown for for 2,617 yards, which currently sits tied for 6th in program history. Brosmer’s 66.8% completion is easily the best of any starting Minnesota QB, ever. His 17 touchdowns are tied for 9th most. Interceptions?
Max Brosmer doesn’t throw them. He has just 5 INTs all season. Max still has the Duke Mayo Bowl against a depleted Virginia Tech team, to increase all of these 2024 numbers and push his way up the U of M record books.

After January 3, Brosmer will be out of college eligibility. His plan was to take his talents to the Hula Bowl, one of the lesser-known FBS All-Star Showcase games that allow pro scouts to fly in and get their eyes on dozens of talented college football players, who might be worth of a draft pick, come April.
Shrine Bowl calls for Minnesota Gophers Max Brosmer
The Hula Bowl is set to take place on January 11, 2025, just one week after the Mayo Bowl. But now, Brosmer won’t be in Florida that weekend. Instead, he’ll now turn his focus towards the more prestigious East-West Shrine Bowl. The Shrine Bowl will give him more time to prepare, being it doesn’t take place until January 30th, 2025, at AT&T Stadium in Dallas.

Had it not been for an opening-game stumble against North Carolina, the Gophers season could have found new heights. They had both an Iowa and Michigan team on the ropes, while beating themselves late against Penn State.

After just 12 Division 1 games, Brosmer will attempt to make it in the NFL. He doesn’t project as an automatic draft pick, but he should be given training camp opportunities as an undrafted free agent. The Gophers turn the quarterback position over to one of either Drake Lindsey or incoming transfer Zach Pyron.
